DATE: September 13, 2003
DISTANCE: Long Course
> 16-18 hours of merriment & glee (early estimate is 80-90 miles)
TEAMS: 3 and 4 person CO-ED
ENTRY FEE: Long Course
> $100 per person
LOCATION: The backdrop for this race will take place in the heart of Iowa's LOESS HILLS.
If you are expecting flat Iowa cropland, I recommend some research. Race HQ (check-in) will be at TIMBER RIDGE RANCH.
DISCIPLINES: Mountain Biking, Trekking, Paddling, Land Navigation.
Be also prepared for running, crawling, non-technical rope-work, special team challenges, trench digging (hey, you never know about some of these race directors)
As with most races, there will be alternate courses for those who do not wish to partake in anything that involves 'ropes'.
NOTES:
The 'Long Course' is for those looking to test their skills in a longer, more challenging adventure race. Still doable for a first time adventure racer who is prepared, so don't be afraid. Required skills will include plotting coordinates (utm) and route finding. Nighttime navigation skills might come in handy. If you are up to the challenge, you will not be sorry.
